Technology will never replace the experience and knowledge of a skilled attorney. With that being said, modern legal technology can make every attorney better. I utilize cutting edge and custom technology to ensure your case is handled efficiently, effectively and to the best of my ability.
Online Portal and Dropbox
In order to help create a collaborative relationship between my clients and the firm, I use two primary methods of communication. First, each client is given access to a shared dropbox folder that has copies of all pleadings and other documents related to your case. Next, clients have acesss to an online portal that can be used to share information about your case or to access case updates 24 hours per day.
Online Appointment Scheduling
It can be frustrating when you try to call your attorney and he or she is out of the office for court appearances or other obligations. On the other hand, the practice of law regularly requires attorneys to be unavailable to answer phone calls. Furthermore, an attorney can provide the best answers to questions when they have the file open and ready at the time they are speaking with a client. With this in mind, I have made it convenient for my clients to schedule appointments for return phone calls or office meetings online by simply visiting www.rickdavislegal.com/appointments.
Many of the pleadings filed in legal matters are routine or look very similar from matter-to-matter. Additionally, a significant amount of time can be spent retyping basic information into legal pleadings. Therefore, I have created a database with hundreds of custom drafted legal documents and utilize technology to insert basic information into these documents. I do not utilize forms that can be purchased on the internet or that are used by other law firms. Instead, all of my court forms have been drafted by me and are updated on a regular basis to comply with changes in court requirements or based on experiences in other cases. Additionally, my forms automatically correct for judge and court preferences, such as adding signature lines for orders filed in Johnson County, Kansas or Missouri but not including the signature lines for similar orders filed in other Kansas Counties. By utilize these sophisticated templates and advanced document automation, I am able to work more efficiently and to spend time focusing on the important legal arguments as opposed to proper document formatting.
Digital Documents and Trial Presentation
All of my client documents are scanned and stored electronically so they are accessible via iPad. Because I do not have to carry around large boxes of files, I can be sure that I have access to all of your case documents, photos, and videos at all court appearances or mediations. Moreover, I can quickly find documents using text-based searches, which move significantly quicker than looking through boxes. Also, when the courtroom supports technology, I utilize a specialized software that allows documents, videos, and other electronic evidence to be presented directly from an iPad, leading to a smoother and more professional trial presentation.
