Should I Hire a Real Estate Agent to Sell my Home?
Real Estate Agents serve an important role in the process of buying and selling a home. An experienced Real Estate Agent will be able to provide you with advise on what price to list your home for or what minor improvements you can make that may dramatically increase the home’s value to prospective buyers. Real Estate Agents also take a significant amount of work of your hands as you do not need to show the property to prospective buyers or spend time creating listings/advertisements.
If you feel comfortable that you will be able to find a prospective buyer on your own, you may consider not hiring a real estate agent. If you are not interested in spending the time showing or marketing your home or if you are unsure how to price or prepare you home for sale, you may want to spend some time considering hiring a Real Estate Agent.
What is the difference between hiring a Real Estate Agent and selling my home FSBO with a Real Estate Attorney?
Real Estate Agents and Attorneys serve very different roles in the transaction. Where Real Estate Agents bring the most value is in their ability to market and show your home to potential buyers. Real Estate Agents will put signs in your yard, list your home on the MLS and conduct open houses to market your home for sale. An experienced Real Estate Agent can also provide you with unique insight about other homes that sold in the are or tips to increase the value of your home for sale.
Unlike a Real Estate Agent, when you engage a Real Estate Attorney, he or she will not be involved in the marketing or showing of your home to prospective buyers. You will be responsible for finding a buyer for your home and the Real Estate Attorney will step in once someone has indicated an interest in making an offer. Then, the Real Estate attorney will assist with drafting the proper paperwork and ensuring a fast and efficient closing process. By using an attorney, you can be sure that the sale that the contract accurately reflects the agreement between you and the buyer and that all legal aspects of the transaction are handled properly.
